RenewalGuard Privacy Terms

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 July 2026  ·  Effective: 1 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how RenewalGuard ("RenewalGuard", "the Extension", "we", "us", or "our"), a browser extension provided by 3iApps ("the Company"), handles information when you use it.

We have built RenewalGuard to be private by design. The core of the product — detecting subscriptions and deceptive checkout designs — runs entirely on your own device. We do not operate servers that receive, see, or store the contents of the web pages you visit.

Please read this policy together with our Terms and Conditions.

1. Who we are

Data Controller: 3iApps
Email: support@3iapps.com
ICO Registration Number: ZA583291

For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the EU GDPR, 3iApps is the data controller for the limited personal data described in this policy.

2. Summary (the short version)

Detection is 100% local. The Extension analyses checkout pages inside your browser. The contents of those pages never leave your device and are never sent to us.

We do not collect your browsing history, the URLs you visit, your payment card details, or the contents of any web page.

Your subscription tracker data stays on your device. If you enable sync, it is stored in your own browser's Google-account-backed storage, not on our servers.

The only personal data we process is what is strictly necessary to take payment for RenewalGuard Pro and to verify your licence — handled by our payment processor, Stripe, and a minimal licence-verification service we operate.

We do not sell your data. We do not use advertising trackers. We do not profile you.

3. What the Extension does on your device (no data sent to us)

When you browse, the Extension's local detection engine inspects the structure and text of pages you visit to identify patterns such as pre-checked subscription boxes, automatic-renewal terms, countdown timers, hard-to-find cancellation links, and items added to a cart without your action.

This analysis:

The findings are shown to you on the page and in the Extension's popup. We never receive them.

Subscription tracker

If you choose to use the manual subscription tracker, the information you enter (for example a service name, price, billing date, and category) is stored locally on your device using your browser's storage.

If you are a Pro user and you enable cross-device sync, this information is stored in your browser's built-in synchronised storage (chrome.storage.sync), which is provided and encrypted in transit by Google as part of your Chrome/Chromium profile. It syncs between your own signed-in devices. It is not sent to or stored by us. It is subject to Google's own privacy terms for your browser profile.

Local notifications

Renewal reminders are scheduled and delivered locally by your browser using the browser's alarms and notifications features. No reminder data is sent to us.

4. Personal data we DO process (and why)

We only process personal data in connection with payment for, and verification of, RenewalGuard Pro. If you only ever use the free features, we do not process any personal data about you through our own systems (your browser may still process data locally as described above).

4.1 Payment data (processed by Stripe)

When you purchase RenewalGuard Pro, payment is processed by Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. and its affiliates ("Stripe"), an independent third-party payment processor and data controller in its own right.

You provide your payment details directly to Stripe through Stripe's own hosted checkout. We never see or receive your full card number, security code, or full billing details. Stripe shares with us only limited information needed to manage your purchase, such as:

Stripe's processing of your data is governed by Stripe's own Privacy Policy. We recommend you read it.

Lawful basis: performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR) — processing necessary to provide the Pro service you have purchased.

4.2 Licence verification data (processed by us)

To unlock Pro features, the Extension sends a licence key (and/or a customer identifier) to our licence-verification service so we can confirm whether the associated subscription is active. This service runs on Cloudflare Workers infrastructure.

The data involved is limited to:

We store this in a key-value datastore solely to answer the question "is this licence currently valid?". We do not attach your browsing activity, detection findings, or tracker contents to this record. We could not do so even if we wished, because that information never reaches us.

Lawful basis: performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR).

4.3 Support correspondence

If you email us at support@3iapps.com, we process your email address and the contents of your message to respond to you.

Lawful basis: legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR) — responding to user enquiries.

5. What we deliberately do NOT collect

For the avoidance of doubt, RenewalGuard does not collect, receive, store, or transmit to us any of the following:

6. Analytics

At launch, RenewalGuard does not include any third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

If, in the future, we introduce analytics, we will only use privacy-preserving, aggregate, non-identifying measurement (for example, anonymous counts of installs or feature usage), we will update this policy before doing so, and where required we will ask for your consent. We will never introduce advertising trackers or sell usage data.

7. Cookies

The Extension itself does not use cookies. Our payment processor (Stripe) may use strictly necessary cookies to operate checkout. Any non-essential cookies will be subject to a separate notice and, where required, your consent.

8. Who we share data with

We share the limited personal data described in Section 4 only with:

each only to the extent necessary to provide RenewalGuard Pro.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or for any third party's independent marketing.

We may disclose personal data if required to do so by law, court order, or a valid request from a competent authority, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

9. International transfers

Stripe and Cloudflare may process data outside the UK and the European Economic Area. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK/EEA, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum and/or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or transfers to jurisdictions deemed adequate. You can ask us for more detail using the contact in Section 13.

10. How long we keep data

11. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR / EU GDPR you have the right to: access your personal data; have inaccurate data corrected; have data erased; restrict or object to processing; data portability; and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. You will not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

To exercise any right, contact us at support@3iapps.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by law. Because most of your data never leaves your device, the fastest way to erase tracker data, settings, and findings is to clear them within the Extension or uninstall it.

12. Children

RenewalGuard is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly process the personal data of children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you within the Extension. Your continued use of RenewalGuard after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy, to the extent permitted by law.
